At present I am having sessions via online video or phone. In-person sessions may resume at some point in the future. Online sessions are simple to use, just click on a link I will email to you and it will take you to my virtual waiting room. When we are both ready, I will start the session.
Welcome to my website! I am a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice in Ontario since 1994. Psychology is a fascinating field offering opportunities to work with a variety of interesting people to share in their growth while overcoming obstacles and I feel privileged to be part of my clients' lives. I tend to be pretty optimistic while searching for effective and viable solutions to life issues and fostering growth and positive change. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approaches investigate how changes in thinking patterns, behaviours and body states can create positive changes in outlook, emotions, and relationships while reducing stress. Psychodynamic approaches may investigate personal strengths and defenses. Couple and family approaches look into the various roles and relationship issues that we experience while working to improve communication. A variety of these methods may be used to promote healthier thinking, feeling, behaviour and body states.
In addition to my training in clinical psychology, I have an ongoing interest in sport and fitness that began when I was very young. My father was an Olympic Bronze Medalist in canoeing at the 1948 Olympics and my uncle was an Olympic Silver Medalist in canoeing at the 1952 Olympics so it's in our blood! I was a 16 yr-old Canadian age-group champ in track and went on to compete in a variety of track, cross-country and triathlon competitions, winning several (eg, Springbank 15k; Oakville 10k) and second in some larger competitions (eg, Around the Bay Road Race in Hamilton; South Australia Triathlon Champs). I am still active in running, biking, skating, weight-lifting, swimming and hiking. In addition to competing in athletics I turned to coaching and became the Head Coach at Univ of Waterloo alongside the incredibly dedicated coach Don Mills. For a while our men's cross-country team was ranked #1 in Canada which was exciting. I also enjoyed a season as an Assistant Coach of the Univ of Tennessee Men's Soccer Team when they won the Southeastern United States Championships.
